Tourist Guide to Singapore

East Coast Park

Singapore is summer all year round with the occasional rain. Therefore, it isn't very surprising that beaches are very popular in Singapore.

East Coast Park is one of the more well-known parks in the eastern part of Singapore. In fact, at around 20km long, it's one of the largest parks as well. East Coast Park spans the whole eastern to southern coast, from Changi all the way to Marine Parade.

Popular East Coast Park Day Cyclists

You can find tents and BBQs being setup every night along the beach, and watching the sunrise/sunset is always a fun thing to do. Interested to watch the sun rise? Be there at around 6am to be in time to catch it.

Snorkelling and anything that requires crystal-clear waters isn't advised though, because Singapore waters aren't really the best around. Actually, the water can even be described as "murky". A dip is fine though, and many people just splash about in the water. There are public shower rooms and toilets located all around the beach.

Cyclists and bladers abound too, and if you don't have a bike or rollerblades, there's no problem, because there're a few shops providing bicycle and rollerblade rental services. Prices start from around SGD5 for 2 hours.

Hungry? There's a lot in store for food lovers in East Coast Park. First, there's the open-air hawker centre which has numerous individual hawker stalls, each serving a different kind of local fare. Remember to try the satay (Barbequed meat on a stick, eaten with rice and peanut sauce) - It's delicious! East Coast Park is also famous for its seafood places - there are easily more than 5 different seafood restaurants around.
